Before you enter the forest
What do I need to play?
Dark Forest is built for Shadowdark RPG. Players only need the information on their character sheet. The GM should know the basic character creation, crawling, combat, and gameplay rules.
Are the STL miniatures physical figures?
No. The STL set is delivered as digital files for 3D printing. The figures shown are unpainted examples of how the sculpts can look after printing.

Where can I find the free Shadowdark RPG quickstart rules?
The free quickstart rules are on the Arcane Library store. There is a PDF bundle to download that includes the player guide and the GM guide quickstart rules. You will only need the first 9 pages from the player guide and pages 10-17 of the GM guide.
Is this Dungeons & Dragons?
No. And yes. Dark Forest uses a rules-light version of the 5E D&D called Shadowdark RPG. It's simplified, grittier and more like how we played the game in the 1980's. And it's perfect for Dark Forest.
